A saúde das mulheres lésbicas nas políticas de saúde públicas no Brasil

Abstract

The aim of this work is to broaden the discussions about the health of lesbian women in public health policies in Brazil, bringing the repercussions that the relation of invisibility of lesbianity generated in lives of those women. Thereby, we seek to develop this research from the categories of analysis that are transversal to this topic and that are present throughout the development of our object, such as the patriarchal relations of gender, sexuality, sexual orientation and gender identity and identifying as these categories reproduce in our society and how they present themselves in the lives of lesbian women. For this, the adopted methodologies revolved around bibliographical and documentary research, based on the analysis of the documents of the National Policy on Integral Health of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite and Transgender, approved in 2013, and the Integral Attention to the Health of Lesbian Women, elaborated in 2014, as well as the incorporation of documents produced during the required traineeship process, held at the Hospital José Pedro Bezerra (Santa Catarina Hospital) in the city of Natal. Thus, the research results point to the need for a greater appropriation by health professionals of the treatment of these specific health demands of lesbian women, as well as an effective responsibility of the organs that administer the policies for lesbian women and the LGBT population to comply with the National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite and Transgender National Policy for Comprehensive Health Care, with a view to guaranteeing equal access for lesbian women within the Unified Health System. In addition, the need to develop academic and medical-scientific research on this theme and related issues is emphasized, as well as a possibility toward reducing prejudices and guarantee the rights of lesbian women.
