Resultados: Noventa e quatro professores responderam a pesquisa. | |
| Abstract | Objective: to identify the presence of vocal symptoms, as well as the frequency and intensity of musculoskeletal pain in teachers and verify the associations between both variables. Methodology: Teachers from all levels were invited to participate. Information about gender, age, and period of time as teacher were collected to characterize the sample, as well as information for eligibility in the research. Voice Symptom Scale (VoiSS) was applied as well as the Musculoskeletal Pain Research Questionnaire (MPRQ), divided into two parts; The first one investigates the frequency of pain of various body regions indicated in the protocol; The second investigates the intensity of the pain, in the same regions, by means of a 100mm visual-analog scale. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis were performed. The latter verified the correlation between VoiSS and the MPRQ. A linear regression model was proposed to verify other variables impacting on the presence of vocal symptoms. Results: Ninety-four teachers answered the research. A high presence of vocal symptoms was found, along with the presence of pain, especially in the cervical regions close to the larynx, as well as in the lower coastal region. The intensity of the pain was considered mild. There was a correlation between the vocal symptoms in all the studied body regions and the intensity of the pain was related to the VoiSS scores, especially for the regions closest to the larynx. The regression analysis showed that being female and having moderate or intense pain in the larynx are associated with an increase in vocal symptoms. Conclusion: Professors present a high presence of vocal symptoms. Frequency and intensity of pain are relevant given the number of regions affected. There is a relationship between the frequency and intensity of pain with the presence of vocal symptoms. Being a woman and presenting pain in the larynx region significantly impacts the presence of vocal symptoms. | |
