Qualidade do sono, sonolência diurna e fatores associados em estudantes universitários: um estudo baseado nos determinantes sociais. 2020. 93f. Dissertação (Mestrado em Saúde Coletiva - Facisa) - Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde do Trairi, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2020.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/30050Admission to university is considered a milestone in the lives of many young people. However, it constitutes a stressful experience, which contributes to the emergence of unhealthy habits and changes in the sleep / wake cycle (CSV). These changes in CSV can have consequences on the physical, mental and social health of these young people. In addition, the living conditions of individuals and population groups can also be considered risk factors for the health of the population, which is defined as social determinants of health (DSS). Based on these determinants, the objective of this study was to identify the factors associated with poor sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness in university students from a campus in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte (RN). 298 students enrolled in the Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde do Trairi (FACISA), in the city of Santa Cruz, interior of RN, participated in the research. The collection was carried out using 04 self-administered questionnaires: “Health and sleep”; the Munich chronotype questionnaire; the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. To identify the factors associated with poor sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness, Poisson regression with robust variance was used, in which the prevalence ratios (PR) were estimated in the bivariate and multivariate analysis. In the intermediate model, variables that had a value of p <0.20, obtained in the bivariate analysis, were initially considered, and remained in the final model if p <0.05. Most of the participating university students are female (73.2%), under the age of 25 (90.6%), who do not work (91.6%) and do not live with their family (87.2%). The prevalence of poor sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness was 79.2% and 51.3%, respectively. Among the intermediate determinants of health, a higher prevalence rate of poor sleep quality was observed in students who had health problems in the last month (18.4% higher), smoked (23.5% higher), used stimulant drinks close to to bedtime (25.8% higher) and those who used electronics before bedtime during the week (18.4% higher) when compared to those who did not perform these behaviors and did not have health problems. With regard to excessive daytime sleepiness, students who justified bedtime during the week and waking up at the weekend because of academic demand had 27% and 34%, respectively, lower prevalence of EDS compared to the group that did not perform these tasks. behaviors. Among the structural health determinants analyzed, no association was observed with the quality of sleep and excessive daytime sleepiness of university students. Therefore, university students in the interior of the state of RN had a high prevalence of poor sleep quality and half of the sample had excessive daytime sleepiness. Due to biological and behavioral factors. It is hoped that this study will serve as a subsidy to foster broad discussions on the implementation of educational sleep programs, increasing the level of knowledge on this subject among the academic community and spreading healthier sleep habits through activities and actions on child hygiene. sleep and the importance of preventing poor sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness that impair students' well-being and health.
