The problem addressed is the challenges of expansion and its relationship with the development of tourism in a place. The general objective of the research is to assess how the impacts resulting from the expansion of the wind sector affect the development of tourism in the Mato Grande region, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte - RN. The methodology used combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, gathering data and quantifying it. The multi-method tool used to eliminate uncertainties is triangulation, going through stages of data manipulation. The research is qualified as a case study, allowing the content to be used in other studies with similar characteristics. The results point out that, despite bringing energy benefits, the sector presents considerable challenges not only for tourism, but also for the region's natural heritage and way of life.
