Estimativa da degradação por radiação ultravioleta de geomembranas aplicadas em aterros sanitários com o uso de sensoriamento remoto. 2023. 28 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Engenharia Ambiental) - Departamento de Engenharia Civil e Ambiental, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/56191Geosynthetic materials are utilized for various purposes, such as erosion control, drainage, filtration, waterproofing, protection, reinforcement, and separation. There is a growing trend to employ these materials for environmental protection, especially in developed countries, aiming to manage waste correctly. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembranes are commonly used in various geotechnical projects, enduring prolonged exposure to weather conditions, as seen in landfills. However, this exposure makes geomembranes susceptible to the adverse effects of ultraviolet rays, oxygen, and temperature variations, potentially compromising their long-term effectiveness due to property degradation. In this context, the objective of this research was to estimate the potential impacts of exposing a geomembrane to ultraviolet radiation in a landfill in the city of Ceará-Mirim, located in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The adopted methodology was exploratory and explanatory research. Data were collected at the Metropolitan Sanitary Landfill of Natal, located in the city of Ceará-Mirim, using satellite images from Google Earth Pro during three periods: a) June 10, 2014, to September 09, 2015; b) June 05, 2017, to November 10, 2018; and c) September 05, 2020, to July 06, 2021. In conclusion, it was observed that the obtained results reveal variations in the intensity of ultraviolet radiation at the Ceará-Mirim Landfill, directly impacting the exposure of geomembranes.DegradaçãoExposiçãoResistênciaRadiação ultravioletaEstimativa da degradação por radiação ultravioleta de geomembranas aplicadas em aterros sanitários com o uso de sensoriamento remotobachelorThesis
