The book is aligned with the proposals of NBCC (national base common curriculum - BNCC in Portuguese) where it seeks to develop the skills and abilities that are required for the school years mentioned. The textbook is divided into five chapters (orientation in geographical space, knowing the legend, proportion and scale, notebook maps and starting the graphical representation), the book also has explanations, theoretical and practical activities, inclusion and qr codes that take students to other platforms. As a theoretical foundation literature reviews were conducted on the concepts of literacy; Literacy through representation; Cartographic literacy and material and textbook, some references used: ferreiro (1991), soares (2002), almeida (2014), passini (2007 and 2012), punctuschka (2009), simielli (2007), santos (2014), freitag (1989), vesentine (1989), tonini (2017), in addition to documents such as BNCC, PCNS, DCNS and PNLD. The methodology is anchored in qualitative research, having as method the participant research, there was the application of questionnaires via Google forms, the focus group was conducted through webinars with teachers who work with the teaching of geography in the initial and final grades of elementary school, we also had the step of the graphic laboratory with the use of qgis that was used to prepare some maps of the textbook, we also exported maps of ibge and Google earth.
