This study aims to analyze the general contributions of Brazilian and foreign studies on games in the teaching of the Spanish language. The specific objectives are: to identify and characterize Brazilian and foreign studies dealing with the use of games in the teaching of the Spanish language; to synthesize the main findings and contributions of using games in the teaching-learning process of the Spanish language as pointed out in the investigated studies. The research adopts a qualitative approach and is based on a literature review of 9 (nine) Brazilian and foreign articles. The results indicate that games diversify the pedagogical approach, making classes more dynamic and motivating. In addition to developing linguistic and interpersonal skills, they highlight the importance of cultural context. Influenced by renowned educational theories such as those of Vygotsky, Piaget, Ausubel, Winnicot, Dörnyei, Brown, games are perceived as effective in motivating students and enriching Spanish teaching, contributing to the development of communicative and interpersonal competence, promoting interculturality. The study offers valuable pedagogical approaches adaptable to the teaching of the Spanish language, being relevant for academics, teachers, and those interested in enhancing teaching methods with games as an innovative tool.
