Thus, in the organization of customer service, a good management of materials can reduce costs and improve the results of the services offered to the population. This work is the result of a local study conducted at the Maternity Hospital Dr. Graciliano Lordão, it is a health institution that performs medical procedures related to surgical and obstetrical clinics in the city of Parelhas - RN. The study addressed the quality level regarding the process of materials management, as well as the request, maintenance, storage and stock control of the institution. Interviews were conducted with employees based on ten questions regarding the management of materials and through the analysis of the reports was possible to identify the recurrent failures in internal processes that showed serious problems in the implementation, as well as the low amount or even no materials in stock. Due to the constant financial crisis in the Maternity Hospital the planning and requisition of materials are committed and the actions taken by the management and employees of the institution operate as a mere palliative effect.
