Based on this premise, this work aims to analyze themain characteristics of the potentially harmful applications for mobile devices, based onAndroid, in order to be a starting point for future security solutions and strategies forthese systems. Furthermore, a number of 682 potentially harmful applications were analy-zed following the static analysis method, where features were collected from their sourcecode. From these information, the applications were classified and grouped into families,allowing us to identify the main types of potentially harmful applications in this scenario.Thus, we conclude that it is possible to use data collected from these applications for abetter understanding of their operation and also for modeling of possible threats and vul-nerabilities.
