The research is based on the understanding that economic dependence is one of the main factors keeping women in abusive relationships, and that entrepreneurship can serve as a tool for emancipation and self-esteem reconstruction. The adopted methodology was qualitative, involving a literature review, document analysis, and semi-structured interviews conducted with women in situations of social vulnerability and victims of domestic violence. The results indicate that, although entrepreneurship is a viable alternative, it still faces barriers such as the lack of public policies, limited access to credit, and the absence of support networks.
