In the same way that this theme ran through the entire history of thought, so it was in the Christian Tradition, having its main systematization with Saint Augustine. Based on this assumption, this thesis seeks to reflect on the influence that the notion of freedom has developed Augustine inspired the thinking of Martin Luther and John Calvin on the same theme in the 16th century. To this end, the thesis propose a system of understanding of Augustinian freedom that was the second hypothesis followed by the reformers in their approaches, differentiating them in the appropriation of this concept in their writings.
