Quando menos é mais: análise do impacto da transição demográfica no consumo de energia elétrica domiciliar do brasileiro. 2015. 94f. However, recent studies point that the population contingent itself would not be enough to explain environmental changes and discuss the need for other demographic factors to be considered. Among the most significant aspects of this complex relation is the consumption which, in turn, is tightly correlated with the changes in demographic dynamics. In this way, if the consumption are influenced by demographic factors and if we consider that Brazil experiences rapid changes in its demographic structure, is to be expected that new consumptions levels and patterns are by coming up in Brazil, featuring this thematic as promising and important for studies and research. The objective of this work is to analyze the consumption of household electricity per capita for the life cycles of these household on Brazil and simulate energy consumption behavior considering the changes on age structure on these households. The methodology proposed consists of measure and analyze descriptively the consumption of household electricity per capita for each stage of household life cycle through consumption specific rates age of the head of household and for household arrangement. And then, through the technique of standardization, check the level of consumption if Brazil presents other age structures in their households. The results indicated that the level of consumption of household electricity per capita is expected to increase when households present a structure by age of the household chief older, a greater energy consumption must arise due to population aging. With the and estimates adopted in this work, the increase of consumption resulting from the demographic transition is equivalent to the consumption of household electricity for three days in São Paulo or for 24 days of Rio Grande do Norte. With the confirmation of the expected results, this research corroborates with the demystification of Malthusianism, strengthening the need for build and consolidates a systematic research line on "Demography of Consumption" for a better understanding of the demographic dimension in the consumption of the population and the impact on environment.
