Treatment of ankyloglossia is necessary to prevent functional and anatomical changes. Frenectomy is the priority therapeutic option for short frenulum. The present study aimed to review the effectiveness of laser as an adjunct in the surgical intervention of ankyloglossia in children in the current scientific literature. For this, articles were selected from the Medline (PubMed), Web of Sciences, Scopus, Lilacs, Embase and Scielo databases. The inclusion criteria were studies of the type randomized clinical trials and open access on the applicability of laser in frenectomies, from 2015 to 2024, in English. The data were measured by two independent examiners and the search strategy “Ankyloglossia" AND "Oral frenectomy” AND “Pediatric Dentistry” AND “Laser therapy” was applied, aided by the Boolean operator OR. Literature reviews of any nature, laboratory studies, clinical case reports and gray literature were excluded, totaling 04 selected articles. The results found show that laser-assisted frenectomy has several advantages in the treatment of pediatric ankyloglossia, such as less pain, reduced surgical time and faster recovery, being an effective and well-tolerated option.
