Considering its importance in the study areas that deal with informational subjects, this article aims to: investigate how serendipity has been approached in the context of Information Science in relation to its theoretical and conceptual aspects; and present their preliminary contributions to the studies of Informational Behavior and Information Literacy. Methods: Bibliographic research and qualitative approach. Results: The results show that serendipity contributes significantly to the mentioned studies.
