For those who don`t know Spondia sp. this fruit tree produces tasty, nutritious fruits that are well accepted in the market, where the frui tis its main product. And it can represent a good source of employment and income, from the field to the industrialization of the pulp in the form of juices, sweets, jellies, ice cream and other derivatives already consumed by its lovers. Aiming to implement, improve and diversify the industrization of fruit growing in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, in the municipality of Macaíba. He presente work consists of the formation of matrices of the umbu-cajazeira (Spondia sp.) culture, which served as a study in the preservation and development of this culture. With the objective of evaluating the establishment of umbu-cajazeira seedlings in the field, as well as the formation of the canopy of these that will make up a matrix of this species in the Agricultural Engineering Experimental Area of the Escola Agrícola de Jundiaí – UFRN in the Rural Technology Production sector – Fruit growing. The seedlings were produced through vegetative propagation by cuttings, with the cuttings donated to UFRN by UFERSA. Planning for the installation of seedlings in the area began with the preparation of the land, installation of the microsprinkler irrigation system, interpretation and adaptation of soil analysis data based on other species of the same genus for the foundation fertilization procedure.The seedlings were planted and tutored to guide growth and canopy formation, with the formation of the canopy architecture in an open pot according to the training pruning recommendations for fruit species from tropical climates. The growth rate was evaluated over the one-year duration of the project in the field, with measurements of the studied parameters, in six months (between the months of october/2022 to march/2023 and other cultural treatments in the remaining time in the months of april to september 2023, so that at the end of the first year of cultivation of the species, we can establish, with data, the management to be followed in this process of implementing the crop in the field. In evaluating the initial development of umbu-cajazeira seedlings, Where the size of the adult plant is expected to remaing between 4 and 6 m in height, with the purpose of facilitating cultural treatments. Crown formation pruning was carried out in accordance with recommendations for fruit species in tropical climates.
