As palmilhas adaptadas em chinelos podem reduzir a dor ao longo do dia e melhorar a função de pessoas com dor persistente no retropé? Orientador: Marcelo Cardoso de Souza. 2023. 45 f. Orthotics emerge as a conservative treatment option. However, studies on the subject still have limited evidence. Objective: To observe the effects of insoles added to sandals on pain and function over 12 weeks of treatment. Method: A randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled clinical trial, registered on Clinical Trials (NCT04784598). Participants were randomized into two groups: an experimental group (n=40) using insoles in sandals tailored to the foot type, and a control group (n=40) using sandals with sham insoles. All participants were instructed to wear the sandals for at least four hours per day for 12 weeks. Assessments were conducted at baseline (T0) and 12 weeks (T12). The primary outcome was morning pain intensity measured by the Numeric Pain Rating Scale. The secondary outcome was foot function assessed by the Foot Function Index. Analysis of variance with mixed design was employed, considering the interaction between time and group for all variables. Results: There was no difference between the groups in walking pain throughout the day (MD= -0.4 [95% CI -0.6 to 0.8]) in the short term. In the secondary outcome, there were also no differences between the groups. Conclusion: Insoles adapted to sandals were not superior to sandals with sham insoles for pain and function outcomes in individuals with heel pain. Adapted insoles in flip-flops can reduce pain throughout the day and improve the function of individuals with persistent pain in the hindfoot?bachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
