Orientador: Marcus André Varela. 58 f. 2023. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Bacharelado em Música) - Escola de Música, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal,. 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/61704The aim of this memorial was to demonstrate how we developed the Matrix Scale System (MSS) during our undergraduate degree in music, in the composition course at the Escola de Música da UFRN - EMUFRN. To do this, our methodology was based on a literature review, following the writings of authors who are of recognized importance in music academic circles. The literature research will demonstrate how scales have been and are widely used in the history of music. As a result, we affirm the current use of scales in contemporary music under a system we have developed that allows the combination of various scales, chords and harmonic systems important in the history of music: the MSS. We will discuss the two premises for the creation of the MSS (one historical and the other theoretical) and demonstrate the two hypotheses based on the tritone interval that underpin the MSS. The first hypothesis is that the notes that form the tritone compete for polarization with the other notes in the octave. The second hypothesis is that a tritone also competes with the other tritones for the polarization of the other notes in the octave. Finally, we will demonstrate that these two disputes can generate scales, which will be grouped into families according to the number of tritones in their structure.CC0 1.0 Universalhttp://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/Escalas musicaisTrítonoHarmoniaSistema de escalas matrizesComposição musicalO desenvolvimento do sistema de escalas matrizes e sua utilização na obra SoprobachelorThesisCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::ARTES::MUSICA::COMPOSICAO MUSICAL
