Today, however, he is considered a key player in the development and expansion of a company. Managers have been seeking more and more qualified accounting professionals who are trained to work in the labor market, bearing in mind that these professionals become the bridge to provide managers with the information that supports decision-making, in addition to contributing to the bond between investors and managers. Thus, the present search work develops a research in order to verify the perception of company managers regarding the information provided by the accountant and their influence on the development and expansion of a company. The methodology of the work consisted in the adaptation of a questionnaire structured according to Faria et al. (2013) and Pitella (2000) for the role of the accountant in small and medium enterprises. The survey was carried out with 25 people representing 25 different companies in the municipality of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.
