Within this broad field is Permanent Health Education, which develops educational practices that focus on solving specific problems and collaboratively explores alternatives to improve work processes and achieve more effective and efficient outcomes. This dissertation sought to delve into the issue of the lack of prenatal care for men and identify potential strategies for involving men's partners and implementing them with the help of healthcare professionals. The study aimed to develop a proposal for a training course on prenatal care for men to be delivered to health professionals working in Primary Health Care Units. This is a methodological study conducted in two stages and developed in accordance with the ethical principles outlined in Resolutions No. 466/2012. It was approved by the CAAE Opinion No. 5.463.151. The first stage, conducted in August 2022, involved a descriptive exploratory study using a qualitative approach in the municipality of Riachuelo, Rio Grande do Norte. 13 pregnant women, 13 parents, and 23 health professionals, including 4 nurses, 2 doctors, 6 nursing technicians, and 11 community health agents, were interviewed. A content analysis revealed the following themes related to participants' perception of men's prenatal care: the importance of having men/fathers present during prenatal care, difficulties men/fathers face when attending prenatal care, the use of health education to encourage the participation of fathers/men, and professional training to ensure quality prenatal care for men. Based on the participants' perceptions and needs regarding men's prenatal care, as well as the Ministry of Health's regulations, a training course proposal was developed as a response to the identified demand for Permanent Education. The course was a 30-hour face-to-face program that covered relevant topics and adopted educational practices focused on problem-solving, through discussions and team skill-building. This approach aimed to apply collectively built knowledge in practice, in cooperation to transform work processes and achieve more effective and efficient humanized and quality assistance to men in prenatal care. The study highlighted the need to train professionals in conducting prenatal care for men, with an emphasis on the quality of care provided. It is necessary to explore different strategies to reach out to the male audience and serve them in their entirety in accordance with the Ministry of Health's recommendations. The difficulties listed by the men and women participating in the research are expected to encourage managers to reflect on strategies in the service and reconsider their approach to including men in prenatal careAcesso Abertoatenção primária à saúdeeducação em saúdepré-natal do parceiroEducação na saúde: curso sobre o pré-natal do homem para profissionais da saúde na atenção básicamasterThesis
