For such, I developed the project “Garatujas Animalescas”: a series of experimentations on the field of costume, in which each week I made a composition inspired by a gross animal. During the creation of each piece, I recorded my process on a research log, where I kept track of the work done and wrote down the reflections about my artistic making. From the recorded experiences, I sought to understand the possibilities of creation in the field of theatre costume in relation to the aesthetics of the grotesque. I elaborate, in this dissertation, a reflection about the grotesque as an aesthetic category, its origins and its relation to themes that are pertinent to the theatrical art. I understand that not everything that comes up in the workshop is perfectly explained by the ideas of the theorists.
