Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Odontologia) - Departamento de Odontologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2021.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/39093INTRODUCTION: Frenotomy is a surgical procedure performed on patients affected by ankyloglossia, a condition that is a congenital anomaly, identified right after delivery. Despite controversies in the literature, at Hospital Infantil Varela Santiago, frenotomy is indicated for patients who have dysphagia, difficulty in breastfeeding or the “tongue-tie”. OBJECTIVES: This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic protocol, indication and surgical approach of patients with Ankyloglossia treated at the clinic of Hospital Infantil Varela Santiago. METHODOLOGY AND RESULTS: A sample of 68 medical records from the Hospital Infantil Varela Santiago (Natal / RN) was collected and outpatient follow-up by the researcher to make a qualitative analysis of these medical records. It is also noted that the filling of medical records is lacking in specific information regarding the indication of these patients, the following diagnoses were reported: “Child with Tongue-tie”; "Ankyloglossia"; “Hypertrophy of the lingual frenulum”; “Frenectomy indication”; "Dysphagia" and "Sublingual frenulum attached". CONCLUSION: It was concluded in this article that the approach and management of these patients does not correspond to what is seen in the literature, since the professional opinion does not correspond with the indications seen in the references. With this, it was suggested the elaboration of a specific protocol for the right approach of these patients.AnquiloglossiaFreio LingualCirurgia BucalAnkyloglossiaLingual FrenumOral SurgeryAnálise e manejo de pacientes com anquiloglossia: um estudo de caso.bachelorThesis
