Objectives: To describe the RCV of primary care of individual users of health of Rio Grande do Norte through the LAP index and correlate with anthropometric indicators of cardiovascular risk. Methods: A cross-sectional study, whose population comprised people of both sexes, aged 18-90 years, living in two cities in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil) in care in primary health care. The sample included patients who had performed biochemical tests, including fasting triglyceride levels in less than 30 days. These responded to a structured questionnaire and then performed anthropometric nutritional assessment. Results: We evaluated 437 individuals, where 109 (100%) had LAP index above the 75th percentile statistically significant differences were observed between the sexes, but individuals who had higher LAP index also had higher values of biochemical markers of cardiovascular risk. About correlation between the LAP index anthropometric variables, the indicator with more strong correlation for both sexes was the waist-hip ratio (r = 0.512, p <0.00). Furthermore, LAP ratio has strong correlation with anthropometric parameters than with biochemical parameters. Conclusions: The LAP index had a strong association with overweight and showed excellent correlation with other traditional cardiovascular risk markers, can be used as an alternative method of risk identification in primary care.embargoedAccessDoenças cardiovasculares, Atenção primária à saúde, Triglicerídeos, circunferência da cintura.Avaliação do risco cardiovascular pelo indice lap em indivíduos usuários da atenção básica de saúdeAssessment of cardiovascular risk of lapindex in individual users of primary carebachelorThesis
