In this work, vibration control was performed on a simulated cantilever beam subjected to varying loads using a fuzzy controller, a non-linear and versatile controller, whose parameters were tuned by a genetic algorithm. Effective fuzzy controller configurations were found that generated low vibrations in the beam when compared to the uncontrolled system, making the beam safer and more efficient. These results were similar, qualitatively, to those obtained by a PID controller also tuned by genetic algorithm.
