It brings in its methodology the metaphor as a cognitive operator, in order to make a light writing and simple to understand by the reader, since the author's understanding is that scientific research only has the proper meaning if it can be absorbed by society in general, not just those who are in academic life. It is part of the research line of Fundamentals of Environmental Education of the Graduate Program in Environmental Education at the Federal University of Rio Grande. It takes the reader on a journey over the waters that make up the author's training, based on authors who dialogue about environmental education from the perspective of complexity, such as Edgar Morin, Ailton Krenak, Moema Viezzer, Leonardo Boff, Maria da Conceição Almeida, between others. He believes in the need to look at the intangible issues of human existence, as grounds for understanding environmental education to be decisive for changing society's posture, given the great challenge facing humanity in preserving the Planet. A thesis that seeks to win the reader over to their role in the world and the importance of caring for the great house, our Mother Earth. It makes strategic stops along the route of the proposed trip to visit “islands of resistance” where environmental education actions are practiced under the logic of the sensitive, the perspective of aesthetics, affection, spirituality defended by Leonardo Boff. It brings learning about the way of being and being in the world of original peoples, taking into account the ancestry, defended by Ailton Krenak.
