In this sense, this study aimed to analyze the development of a second language in childhood in the school context, seeking to investigate the pedagogical strategies used in a bilingual school in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, to achieve proficiency in oral communication in the second language. In order to do so, following a qualitative research methodology, an exploratory study was carried out, which consisted of observations made on the daily routine of children in the 1st and 4th year of elementary school, analyzing their behavior regarding the development of oral communication in contact with another language.
