Methodology: Observational, cross-sectional, quantitative, descriptive study with 21 elderly people from 2 non-philanthropic ILPIs in Currais Novos-RN. For nutritional assessment, anthropometric measurements were taken (weight and height), classifying nutritional status by body mass index (BMI). As well as, the arm circumference (AC), calf circumference (CC), thickness of the adductor pollicis muscle (APM) and muscle strength level (MSL) were measured. For quality of life, the following questionnaires were applied: World Health Organization Quality of Life Instrument Older, which assesses thoughts and feelings, and the Mini Mental State Examination, which assesses cognitive function. Results: Anthropometric data were associated with data from the questionnaires. Most were men aged between 70 and 79 years, equal percentage of BMI, 33.3% for thinness, normal weight and overweight, with high BC, but 52.4% of normal weight for PC. They presented normal MSL, absence of lean mass depletion and mild to moderate cognitive loss. There were positive correlations with moderate to strong intensity between BMI, WC and AC. The MSL related to Sensory Abilities (SA) and Temporal Spatial Orientation (TSO); and SA vs Autonomy and TSO.
