Análise estratigráfica dos depósitos da Formação Pendência, na área de Upanema, seção rifte da Bacia Potiguar. 2019. 77f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Geologia) - Departamento de Geologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2019.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/34398The Upanema area, located in the southern portion of Umbuzeiro Graben, in Potiguar Basin, represents a typical example of a rift basin, corresponding to the sedimentary interval of the Potiguar Rift section, correlated to the Pendência Formation. The graben is placed between two important structures of Potiguar Basin, the Alto de Quixaba and the Carnaubais Fault System. In this context, the study accomplished in this work aims to realize a tectonostratographic characterization of the Potiguar Basin`s rift interval, based on the fundamental concepts of Sequence Stratigraphy adapted and applied to rift basins. It were made through the interpretation of the Upanema 3D seismic data, 2D seismic lines and exploratory wells of the area and adjacencies, which were used as database to support this work. Stratigraphic analysis was performed in two distinct stages, 1D and 2D analysis. In these phases, individual analysis of each well and correlation between them allowed to recognize the main lithofacies, identifying the current depositional systems, chronostratigraphic surfaces, and interpreting tectonic system tracts for the area. The analysed lithofacies are essentially sandstones, siltstones, shales, and, subordinately, carbonate rocks. Based on the associations of these lithofacies and the foundation of literature, three major depositional systems were interpreted: fluvial-deltaic, lacustrine and alluvial fan. In the seismic stratigraphic analysis, five seismic stratigraphy surfaces were identified. They correspond to the boundaries that limit the tectonic system tracts: Sin-Rift Unconformaty, Half-graben Development Surface, Rift’s Climax Surface, Maximal Rifting Surface, and Post-Rift Unconformaty. Lastly, using fundamental concepts of seismic stratigraphy, with seismic reflections parameters (seismic reflections pattern, continuity, amplitude and frequency) and lithological well data, it were recognized four seismic facies related to half-graben in rift phase: seismic facies 1, seismic facies 2, seismic facies 3 and seismic facies 4. Finally, it were interpreted the Tectonic System Tract Of Rift Initiation, where the basin is still a sinformal depression; Tectonic System Tract Of Half-Graben Development, recognized mainly in the analysis of the seismic sections when the strata shows a slight divergence; High Tectonic Activity Tract System, with high rate of creation of accommodation space; and Low Tectonic Activity Tract System, where there is a significant decrease in tectonic activity of the main fault and axial fluvial systems that are coming to the basin. Thus, the integration between the stratigraphic analyses carried out in this study, using concepts of seismic stratigraphic and fundamental concepts of sequence stratigraphy adapted to rift basins, has come to a better understanding of the tectonostratigraphic evolution of the rift section of the area, corresponding to lithotypes of Pendência Formation.
