It is in this context that the use of additives from plant compounds, such as pyroligneous extract (PE), has been considered. It is the product of the condensation of smoke produced in the carbonization of forest biomass, usually made to obtain charcoal. The benefits of its use in pig production range from good zootechnical indexes, reduction of environmental impacts and reduction of production costs, abdicating the use of some medicines, in addition to its use in the food industry with smoked products. Due to the few studies related to the effects of using this compound in animal feed, it is necessary to deepen it to assess the possible risks for the proper functioning of the animal organism. The objective of this was to evaluate the toxic potential of the pyroligneous extract in the feeding of pigs in the finishing phase, weighing 56.78±8.49kg to 94.41±11.35kg, analyzing the indices of oxaloacetic transaminase (TGO) and pirúvica (TGP) and the liver tissue profile. Twelve pigs, castrated males, were used in the experiment during a period of 40 days and later they were entrusted with humane slaughter.
