The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) methodology was adopted as a reference in the present study due to its widespread recognition and acceptance in the field of project management. The objective was to demonstrate how the implementation of monitoring and control processes adapted from the PMBOK Guide could contribute to making the company's project management more efficient, particularly in terms of monitoring project profitability and financial control. This study was initially developed through interventions in the areas of cost management, integration, resources, and acquisitions in a consultancy firm operating in the field of complex environmental projects. During the study, improvements and optimizations were proposed and implemented in the organization's data sources, particularly those related to the planned budget values and the actual expenditure during project execution. Approximately three months after implementing these improvements, it was possible to assess the effectiveness and applicability of these optimizations through a survey distributed to employees. Additionally, a set of performance indicators was proposed to further enhance the monitoring and financial control of project profitability.
