Most are phytophagous, with some occupying the predator niche and others considered significant agricultural pests. In the state of Rio Grande do Norte, the scarce knowledge available regarding the record and distribution of these species comes from specimens deposited in collections and repositories. The Adalberto Antônio Varela Freire Entomological Collection (CEAAVF/UFRN) has a small synoptic collection relevant mainly to the Caatinga biome, especially focused on the Seridó Ecological Station. In addition to the physical repository, occurrence records are present in digital catalogs and Brazilian fauna database platforms that contribute information about the entomofauna of Rio Grande do Norte. Based on this collection, both physical and digital, along with the sorted and identified Pentatomoidea specimens from the collection, a comparative analysis was established between the physical and digital records for the nominal identification of the Pentatomoidea genera sampled in the state.
