We hope that this research will serve as a resource for continued education of History teachers, stimulating the reading of these authors for the construction of new perspectives about the contents of the curricular component History. At the same time, we present suggestions to implement Law 10.639/2003, enhancing the advances already made by the didactic literature and exploring other paths pointed out by specialists as weaknesses to be overcome for the promotion of the teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African history and culture in Brazil. To guide these suggestions, we asked teachers which objects of knowledge they find difficult to articulate with Law 10.639/2003, and the result of this research guided the development of didactic sequences appropriate to the requirements of the Brazilian National Curricular Common Base (BNCC) for the Elementary School Final Years, approached from an afroreferenced thinking.
