The proposal arose from the difficulty faced in reading the book Arquivística: objeto, princípios e rumos (Archival Science: object, principles, and directions), by Heloísa Liberalli Bellotto, whose technical and theoretical language creates obstacles to initial learning. The manual aims to make the content more accessible, presenting the concepts, principles, and practices of Archival Science in a clear and applied manner. The study was developed from the complete reading of Bellotto's work and the organization of didactic material divided into thematic chapters, which explain and exemplify the fundamentals of the area. The result is an introductory manual that seeks to bring students closer to archival theory, demonstrating its relevance to the training of historians and teachers, especially in the preservation of memory and the responsible use of information.
