It affects young adults and has percentage of 0,9% of the world population. The affected joints are the sacrilica and the spine. However, the peripheral joints can also be affected. The bearer of AE usually reports pain, and decreasing of funcional capacity. No cure has been found so far, but there are therapeutic strategies which aim to decrease sequelae and prevent complications. As a solution, we have the Pilates method which works as an excelent physical and mental conditioning program, a dynamic technique which has power, stretching and balance as main objective as the method is also concerned about keeping the body's physiological curves. The objective of this essay is to explicit the importance of Pilates method for bearers of AE as it improves posture, balance, and flexibility. We observed and analised the effects of PM on AE of other studies. The articles were researched based on electronic data from the American and Caribbean scientific Literature (LILACS), on the National library of medicine(MEDLNE), Scientific Electronic library on line (SCIELO) and on the National library of American medicine(NLM/pubMed), where it's noticeable the lack of literary works about the use of PM on the treating of AE, although it is claimed to be a method which improves the global flexibility, posture and balance of these pacients. Nevertheless, this resource is not very explored in the research field for these pacients. Anyways, the studies proved the effectivness of PM to be true as it improves posture, flexibility and balance of the pacients through MP.Método pilatesEspondilite anquilosanteQualidade de vidaAnálise da eficácia do método pilates na postura, na flexibilidade, no equilíbrio e na qualidade de vida de pessoas portadoras de espondilite anquilosante: uma revisão de literaturabachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::EDUCACAO FISICA
