Um sistema de visão computacional para o monitoramento de parâmetros respiratórios de pacientes com esclerose lateral amiotrófica em ambiente hospitalar. 2012. 76f. Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Energia Elétrica) - Centro de Tecnologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2012.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/27103Hospital automation is in increasingly expansion due to the needs of the market and thetechnological advances in the information technology field. The search for automating processes in the health area is recurrent fact much of in public hospitals as in private ones. Therefore, in recent years, there has been a significant increase in research in the area of hospital automation, with the focus on patient monitoring. The aim of this work is todevelop an architecture based on computer vision to monitor, in a remotely way, the respiratory parameters in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - ALS in a hospital environment. Based on the patient's respiratory parameters, obtained by monitoring of mechanical ventilation systems (which is accomplished using computational vision techniques), is possible to determine risk situations for the patient. When a risk situation is detected an alert message is sent to health care team an patient's family. This alert signal enables a faster and more accurate patient care. Thereby, the present work contributes for the theatment process of patients with ALS improvement, allowing as well an improvement of patient quality of life, those patients who are dependent in a strong way of mechanical ventilation systems, which means demading a permanent and uninterrupted monitoring.
