Elegia nº 1 para violino e piano de Cláudio Santoro: poética e performance. Orientador: Dr. Rucker Bezerra de Queiroz. 2024. 126f. Dissertação (Mestrado em Música) - Escola de Música, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/62541The proposed research aims to analyze the stylistic, idiomatic, and interpretative characteristics of Claudio Santoro's "Elegy No. 1 for Violin and Piano." The investigation focuses on understanding how his different compositional phases are reflected in this work, highlighting the evolution of his style and trajectory over time. A central aspect of the study is an essay on the poetics embedded in the composition, exploring how Santoro uses musical elements to convey emotion and meaning. To achieve this, the research proposes an analysis of the formal structure of the piece, observations on the use of harmonic and melodic resources, as well as other characteristic elements of his final compositional phase, and a reflection on how these aspects contribute to the interpretative approach to be adopted by the violinist and pianist. Additionally, the study delves into the relationship between Santoro's writing and the idiomatic characteristics of the violin, considering his own experience as a violinist. This allows for a deeper understanding of how the composer explored the expressive and technical virtues of the instrument, directly influencing interpretative choices in the performance of the work. A practical contribution of this work is the creation of an edition of the score aimed at assisting instrumentalists in performing this piece. This edition may include interpretative markings, phrasing suggestions, dynamics, and other information that help in the poetic elaboration and execution of the piece. Thus, the research not only explores technical and stylistic aspects of Elegy No. 1, but also seeks to broaden access to the repertoire and performance of Brazilian music for violin, providing valuable resources for musicians interested in exploring this prominently relevant work of the national repertoire.
