This fact is one of the reasons that includes us in a scenario of water scarcity and floods. Given this situation, there is a worldwide concern regarding the preservation of water quality for the next generations. In this context, the use of rainwater appears as an interesting alternative to contribute with reduction of drinking water consumption, as well to mitigating the effects of floods. The present paper has the objective of analyzing, under the technical and financial aspects, the implementation of a rainwater harvesting system in a shopping mall located in a city of northeast Brazilian coast, taking into account the monthly consumption bills of the building, pluviometric historical series of 1964 to 2015, collection area and possibilities of using reserved water. The volume of the storage tank was defined through analysis of the water balance, considering the efficiency obtained by the Supply After Spillage (YAS) method, available space for allocation, system cost obtained through the software OrçaFascio and his respective pay back.
