Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Letras - Língua Portuguesa e Literaturas), Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/61939This study analyzes the short story Amor, by Clarice Lispector, included in Laços de Família (1960), focusing on the symbolic role of silence in the construction of the protagonist Ana's subjectivity. The qualitative approach, based on literary and critical analyses by authors such as Alfredo Bosi (2015) and Benedito Nunes (1989), is combined with an exploration of silence in the studies of Andressa Estrela Lima (2023), Eni Puccinelli Orlandi (2007), Lourival Holanda (1992), Maria Lúcia Homem (2012), and Suelena Werneck Pereira (2009) to clarify how this narrative resource transcends the absence of speech and reveals the existential tensions of the character. From this perspective, this analysis highlights the importance of silence in constructing the psychological and existential layers that permeate the narrative, contributing to a deeper reading of Lispector's work. Throughout the discussion, it was found that the silence in Amor the protagonist's alienation and introspection but also acts as a catalyst for change, serving as a form of resistance and alternative expression, articulating the boundaries between the spoken and the unspoken.
