Offshore wind energy emerges as a rising option in this scenario, considering the investment in innovation and technological development in the sector. In this context, the thesis aimed to map technological trends for offshore wind turbines through patent analysis. To achieve this goal, an applied research was conducted with a qualitative and a quantitative approach, divided into four stages: a) theoretical research on technological trends, patent analysis, and offshore wind energy in databases relevant to the segment; b) patent search in the Derwent Innovations Index database; c) patent analysis from a historical perspective, by location, by depositor, and by International Patent Classification; and d) systematization of results. As a result, topics for future research and technological developments are presented, highlighting the main advances and trends for offshore wind turbines, considering the continuous expansion and innovation for promoting global energy efficiency.
