Geosites are distinguished by their unique characteristics and high scientific, cultural, and social value. Studies conducted in this area provide a foundation for research in the geographic, geological, archaeological, and sedimentological fields, which help to understand not only the physiographic dynamics of the site but also the evolutionary processes it has undergone. Given the need to protect and safeguard geoheritage assets in the face of increased exploitation of their resources, this research seeks to analyze potential activities that could degrade the Currais Novos geosites, as well as to conceptualize key terms related to geodiversity and list possible practices and tools that can be used to conserve geodiverse areas. The spatial selection was chosen because Currais Novos is the administrative headquarters of the Seridó Geopark, which contains five geosites and is a prominent scientific and leisure visitor destination. The results indicate that mining and geotourism are activities that can cause damage to the municipality's geoheritage.
