2022. 131f. Dissertação (Mestrado em História) - Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/52082Based on theoretical perspectives that associate culture and politics and focusing on the author's political engagement, the objective of this research is to investigate the cartography of Latin America described in the trilogy Memory of Fire (1982-1986), by the Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano (1940-2015). The source of analysis for this research is the third and final book, Century of the Wind (1986), in order to uncover not only the literary and historical sense of the trilogy, but also the author's political goals and his motivations for writing. The methodological operation consisted of analyzing the short stories of the book and the author's reflections on the trilogy in articles and interviews, aiming to understand what Galeano meant by “giving voice to what the official history forgot” and “rescuing the kidnapped memory”, from Latin America, which are the key points of the trilogy.
