When considering public hospitals, especially in terms of difficulties in obtaining inputs, it is crucial that the quality of activities performed is not reduced, mainly since the resulting product corresponds to patients' health. Thus, the present research aimed to analyze the technical efficiency of Brazilian public hospitals and its relationship with the safe stay of patients in these hospitals. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), BCC model, with output orientation, was performed to determine the efficiency scores of the 228 Brazilian hospitals analyzed. Only 29 units were considered efficient. Spearman correlation was applied to assess the relationship between efficiency and Average Length of Stay (ALS) in clinical and surgical beds.
