Immersion in ice water or body cryoimmersion (CIC) has become one of the most used recovery strategies, capable of neutralizing the deleterious effects subsequent to excess stimuli occurring during physical exertion. Objective: to evaluate the effects of cryoimmersion on functional performance and the perception of recovery after induced muscle damage in CrossFit® practitioners. Methods: This is a randomized and blind controlled clinical trial, in which 27 CF practitioners were randomly divided, after an induced muscle damage protocol, into 2 groups: Cryoimmersion = gCI and Control = gC. All individuals underwent evaluation of subjective clinical markers (subjective perception of pain, effort and recovery) and functional performance (single-leg triple jump distance), carried out at the following moments: pre and post-induced muscle damage, immediately after and 24 hours after -intervention. Data were expressed as mean and standard deviation, analyzed in SPSS 22.0. A significance level of 5% and a confidence interval of 95% were considered for all measurements. Results: There was no difference between the groups in the perception of recovery, as well as in the analysis of the single-leg triple jump (STU) (p>0.05). However, gCI returned to baseline after 24h in terms of functional performance (p=0.001). Conclusion: Cryoimmersion does not seem to be an efficient resource for functional performance and perception of recovery after muscle damage induced by high-intensity exercise in CrossFit® practitioners.CC0 1.0 Universalhttp://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ImersãoImmersionEstresse FisiológicoPhysiological StressRecuperação de Função FisiológicaRecovery of Physiological FunctionDesempenho FuncionalFunctional PerformanceTreinamento Intervalado de Alta IntensidadeHigh Intensity Interval TrainingEfeitos da crioimersão no desempenho funcional e percepção de recuperação pós-dano muscular induzido em praticantes de CrossFit®: ensaio clínico randomizado, triplo cegoEffects of cryoimmersion on functional performance and perception of recovery after induced muscle damage in CrossFit® practitioners: randomized, triple-blind clinical trialbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
