Avaliação da viabiliadade da pressão expiratória nasal como forma de avaliação em indivíduos saudáveis: possível forma de complementação para mensuração da força da musculatura expiratória. 2017. 25f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Fisioterapia) - Departamento de Fisioterapia, Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2017.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/35860The evaluation of respiratory muscle pressures is an important method for the early detection of weakness in this musculature. Assessments of maximum respiratory pressures require a level of coordination that can not be achieved in some pathologies. On the other hand, the measurement of Nasal Pressure Sniff test stands out as a non-invasive measure of respiratory muscle strength, especially of the diaphragmatic muscles. However, as sensitive as the Sniff test is to inspiratory pressures, aspiration frames and pneumonia are frequent in patients with neuromuscular diseases due to weakness of the expiratory musculature. Such a need led to research and testing of a new technique for evaluating respiratory muscles through the Sniff test, however, for the expiratory musculature. This maneuver is called the Reverse Sniff (Snep). Objective: To evaluate the viability of the Snep maneuver in Healthy subjects and the correlation between the maximum expiratory pressure and the nasal expiratory pressure. Methodology: The study was a cross-sectional observational study and healthy individuals were collected for convenience, who did not have a history of obstructive or restrictive lung disease, absence of influenza or airway obstruction at the time of evaluation , who were able to understand the maneuver and were not claustrophobic, aged between 18 and 30 years, body mass index (BMI) within the parameters considered normal according to the World Health Organization. Results: A total of 9 healthy individuals and 4 women), with a mean age of 21 ± 1.34 years, with BMI within the parameters considered normal. Data were standardized by Shapiro-Wilk and the Mann-Whitney test, Spearman correlation, and Bland-Altman concordance test were performed. A strong correlation was found between PEmax and Snep values (p = 0.009; r = 0.80). In addition, these variables presented good agreement, once it is perceived, through the Bland-Altman graph. Conclusion: Snep is shown as a possibility of complementation and predictive aid of the general state of patients because it is a non-invasive maneuver of easy applicability. Further research is needed to effectively prove the technique and its applicability in clinical assessments in health systems.embargoedAccessForça muscular expiratóriaPressão expiratória nasalPressões respiratórias máximasAvaliação da viabiliadade da pressão expiratória nasal como forma de avaliação em indivíduos saudáveis: possível forma de complementação para mensuração da força da musculatura expiratóriaEvaluation of nasal expiratory pressure viability as a form of evaluation in healthy individuals. possible form of complementation for the measurement of the expiratory musculaturebachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::FISIOTERAPIA E TERAPIA OCUPACIONAL
