It is the plan for the implementation of a Risk Management Policy at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte - IFRN. We carried out a descriptive research based on a qualitative approach. For data collecting, we used Bibliographical Research (GIL, 2008), the Documental Research (GIL, 2008) and the Focal Group (GIL, 2008). For the analysis, we had the Techniques of Content Analysis (BARDIN, 2011). The theoretical basis approaches the reference methodologies of COSO 2 (2007) and ISO 31000 (ABNT, 2009), IIA (2013), IBGC (2017), TCU (2018) and the resolution 50/2017-CONSUP/IFRN. The development had two distinct phases. First, it occurred during the current management risk context at IFRN. we presented the governance structure; the elements of the risk management at the institution; the results of the analysis of the maturity of the risk management in seven dimensions: risk management strategy; risk management governance; risk management policy; process of risk management and protocol interaction of risk management with management cycles; risk language and evaluation methods; systems, data and models of information; training and culture, monitoring and continuous improvement (IBGC, 2017). Second, we elaborated an intervention proposal for the implementation of a Risk Management Policy at IFRN. It contemplates the following elements: the current context of risk management process; the methodology for the risk management process – it is divided into 5 steps: understanding the risk context; identifying and analyzing the risks; evaluation, prioritization and responses to risks; risks and monitoring treatments; and risks communication.
