The fieldwork unfolded in such a way that the analyses presented here focus much more on trying to understand the silence surrounding issues of LGBTT aging, seeking to comprehend why these demands do not enter the agendas of movements and/or institutional bodies. The discussions and analyses developed in the research also aim to understand how activists perceive, experience, and frame LGBTT aging, reflecting on its particularities. Additionally, the analytical efforts delve into understanding the political demands linked to the perceptions and experiences of aging as an LGBTT person. Methodologically, this research is based on semi-structured interviews, structured observations, multi-sited etnography, document analysis and content analysis as a method for analyzing the data obtained. The findings highlight the construction of chosen families, here specifically referred to as social families in opposition to families of origin, as sources of support and care for LGBTT individuals. Furthermore, the study points to a more pronounced privatization of old age for this population, particularly transsexuals and travestis, given their life trajectories marked by exclusion and the necessity of self-care.
