Thus, we sought to evaluate sleep quality, daytime sleepiness and social support according to socioeconomic status and sex in a healthy sample of adolescents. One hundred and eighty-five adolescents from a federal teaching institution were evaluated, presenting a mean age of 16.2 ± 1.0 years, 55% of which were female. The instruments used for the data collection were: Identification and Socio-demographic Assessment, containing questions about sociodemographic and health characteristics; Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Pediatric Daytime Sleepiness Scale that investigates aspects related to sleep quality and daytime sleepiness, respectively; and Social Support Satisfaction Scale consisting of questions that evaluate the variables satisfaction with friends, intimacy, family and social activities. In the groups of the different socioeconomic categories, no differences were observed regarding sleep quality and daytime sleepiness, however, lower income individuals felt less supported in relation to the social support leisure category of social support. Additionally, girls presented worse sleep quality, greater daytime sleepiness and low social support for social activities.
