Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Odontologia), Departamento de Odontologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/50502Objectives: To assess the oral health conditions of patients in continuous use of psychotropic drugs assisted by Family Health Strategies units in a city in the interior of northeastern Brazil, in addition to identifying the factors associated with these conditions. Methods: This was a cross-sectional observational study, in which users of the ESFs in São Miguel-RN who made chronic use of psychotropic drugs were selected. From a clinical record, sociodemographic conditions, medical history, oral hygiene practices, self-perception and impacts on oral health, parafunctional habits, burning sensation and dry mouth, dental status (DMFT and (NCCL), dental status were recorded. periodontal disease (CPI), changes in soft tissue, flow rate and salivary buffering capacity. Results: Among the 181 patients enrolled, 95 (52.49%) were female and 86 (47.51%) were male. The average age was 40.24 (13.56) years and 124 (68.51%) lived in the urban area. Most of the sample (90.87%) had psychiatric diagnoses within chapter 6 of ICD 11, of which generalized anxiety disorder and recurrent depression were the most prevalent. The most used psychotropics were psycholeptics (38.05%) and psychoanaleptics (31.36%) of level 3 of the ATC system. Of the participants, 115 (63.54%) consider that the medication causes damage to their oral health, 81.77% reported xerostomia, 73.05% probable diagnosis of waking bruxism and 37.02% changes in soft tissues. The average for NCCL was 8.37, for DMFT 14.42 and for the CPI, the most prevalent score was deep pocket. Among the 178 patients who agreed to undergo the salivary test, 83 (46.63%) had hyposalivation (flow less than 0.7mL) and 89 (49.72%) had normal salivary tamponade. Conclusions: It is concluded that chronic users of psychotropic drugs have side effects of these drugs, which negatively influence the oral environment. Thus, these individuals need greater access to dental care and specific preventive programs.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Saúde bucalSalivaPsicotrópicosTranstorno mentalCondições de saúde bucal em usuários crônicos de psicotrópicosOral health conditions in chronic users of psychotropicsbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
