The main objective of this work is to analyze the impact of conducting an elective journalism course on the social reality of a group of students in the 2nd year of high school at the State Center for Professional Education Professor João Faustino, a public school in Natal/RN, Brazil. Therefore, this research carried out a case study and proposed to monitor the results obtained through the knowledge acquired in the school semester between March 30 and July 20, 2022 (first school semester 2022.1). It is proposed, therefore, to present the vision of this group regarding Communication and to address the influence of the exercise of citizenship today, based on the norms of Human Rights enshrined in the international legal system. As a methodological analysis tool, thematic categorical Content Analysis was used, according to Bardin (2011).
