The didactic sequence in question aimed to create an awareness campaign for Yellow September based on the study of some figures of speech in advertisements. Regarding the theoretical framework, we used Fiorin (2023) and Antunes (2010) to discuss figures of speech, and Bakhtin (2016) and Marcuschi (2008) regarding the definitions of discursive genres. Regarding the advertisement genre, we followed research by authors in the field of social communication, such as Sandmann (2023), Sant’Anna et al. (2013), Malanga (1979) and Martins (1997). The research methodology adopted follows the qualitative method, having as corpus six advertisements written by high school students.
