Tese (Doutorado em Administração) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2021.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/32745Projects success has been widely discussed in the project management literature and the criteria used to evaluate it has been changing over the years. Stakeholder satisfaction has been discussed as an important criterion in the success of projects. In addition, the complex nature of construction projects requires appropriate analysis of the various stakeholders and collaboration between them to achieve the project's objectives and meet their needs and interests. Taking into account, this thesis has as general objective to investigate the perception of stakeholders regarding the success of projects, the salience and collaboration in construction projects and is supported by three articles. Article 1 reviews the literature on the themes of project success, stakeholders and collaboration on three distinct research bases. Article 2 analyzes how the success of construction projects is perceived and what are the most important criteria for evaluating it. Article 3 analyzes the salience attributes (power, legitimacy and urgency) of stakeholders and how collaboration occurs in construction projects. To achieve the objectives, a literature review was conducted for Article 1 and articles 2 and 3 are based on case studies in a Federal Institution of Higher Education (IFES). In the case studies, data were collected through documents and 21 semi-structured interviews with representatives of different stakeholders groups involved in the institution's construction projects. The content analysis using Atlas.ti software was the technique used for the analysis of the collected data. Article 1 identified that the study of the three themes is still incipient and that over time there has been an inclusion of the perception of a larger group of stakeholders. The results of article 2 showed that there is no consensus in the perception of stakeholders about success, but that it involves three dimensions (management, product and organizational). Moreover, in general, the most important success criteria is related to quality. Article 3 identified that three stakeholders are the most relevant and that aspects of collaboration need to be improved. Thus, this thesis provided theoretical, methodological and practical contributions. From a theoretical point of view, it intends to contribute to the expansion of knowledge in the area of project management through the connection of successful project themes, stakeholder theory and the concept of collaboration. In addition, it aims from the use of the stakeholder theory and the concept of collaboration to understand how the success of construction projects can be improved. From the methodological point of view, this work addressed the themes using a subjective perspective with the inclusion of a broad group of stakeholders involved in the institution's construction projects. From a practical point of view, it is expected that the research can help managers develop a clearer understanding of the individual interests of the different stakeholders involved and identify points of improvement in the life cycle of the institution's construction projects.Acesso AbertoSucesso de projetosStakeholdersColaboraçãoProjetos de construçãoSucesso de projetos de construção, saliência e colaboração: a percepção dos StakeholdersdoctoralThesis
